Our wonderful sponsors are asked to donate what they can afford and pass our vital message to 12 friends and family (or as many as you can)  with the request that they do the same.  We really want people to join in and feel comfortable in giving.

Our pre-launch went well and thank you to all those who donated. However owing to problems with the Just Giving platform and description of the service they offered and the limited service they provided this has been halted as messages were not easy to leave and transparency for those who gave has been unacceptable and so that process has been stopped for the moment while matters are investigated.

If you wish to make a donation please email us:            safecoursecharity@gmail.com

We are committed to changing the narrative around drug use so the students lead the thinking and work to reduce social acceptability and ensure that they are mindful of those who are, for whatever reason,  vulnerable. We will work to ensure that dynamic drugs policies and harm reduction are adopted in all places of higher education.

Funds are needed to:

1. Promote this vital message through social media and by directly sponsoring students to lead the initiative

2. Conduct vital research

3. Ensure accountability of Universities for having  implemented match fit harm reduction drugs policies

4. Donate to Charities specialising in addiction and bereavement

5. Link up the disparate Charities and initiatives in this area so they have maximum impact.

Where will your money go and our approach in a little more detail

We aim to be an efficient charity using smart ways to get big changes. We will  save lives by using the energies of students, cooperation of Universities and the expertise of existing drug and bereavement charities. By targeting our efforts amazing changes and outcomes are possible in an area where zero action has been the tragic reality for too long. Please join us in this journey where our strategy and approach for harm reduction will develop in an iterative and informed way so as to optimise the safety of students and the reduction in drug use.

We are a new charity just launching in July 2024. Our objectives are set out on our home page.

Depending on donations and the work of our wonderful volunteers we aim to:

  1. Empower and inform students so they can take the lead in tackling the suffering caused by the drugs industry and the protection of the most vulnerable students

  2. Raise awareness of the horrors of addiction and how it preys on vulnerable students and those with underlying mental health issues through amongst other routes sponsoring prizes.

  3. Ensure accurate reporting of deaths at places of higher education: for example the link of drugs to suicide along with an open and honest discussion on drug use.

  4. Provide a website platform for students, parents and family bereaved by drug misuse to remember and celebrate their child and so help understand the harm caused by drugs.

  5. Establish a sponsored position for students to help coordinate and message the charities objectives in each university (including enabling students to recognise signs of abusing drugs and risks of addiction)

  6. Fund vital further research and surveys into drug use at universities such as conducting student led audit of UK universities' policies on drugs including adoption of the UUK framework for harm reduction.

  7. Hold universities to account on the implantation of harm reduction and highlight those prioritising student welfare and active policies.

  8. Link places of higher education with local drugs charities for both volunteering and also education about the impact of drugs.

  9. To provide funds and support to impacted students and families bereaved through addiction.

In this way will start a process to optimise a drugs policy which will have at its heart the creation of an environment where students are empowered to articulate the harm of drug use/the supply chain and to enable students to be able to come forward (or be reported by others) to get help without fear of  expulsion.

THANK YOU SO MUCH
